Stone Age Cave Painting

The learners in Dosbarth Un have been exploring the story 'The Stone Age Boy', discovering what life was like during the Stone Age. As part of this, they have created their own cave paintings inspired by the story.

Firstly, the learners experimented with different media, such as charcoal, chalk, sketching pencils, watercolour paints and wax crayons, to explore which they thought would work best for creating their Stone Age cave painting artwork. They also explored different techniques, such as finger painting and smudging.

Once the learners had chosen the media and techniques they felt worked best, they moved on to deciding which images they wanted to include in their artwork, thinking carefully about the reasons for their choices.

Next, the learners created the background for their artwork, exploring how they could make it mimic the natural, aged appearance of ancient cave walls.

Lastly, the learners transferred their chosen images onto their backgrounds using their selected media, creating amazing pieces of cave painting artwork!
