Eco-Committee

The Eco‑Committee had an exciting meeting today as they unpacked the items they purchased with their battery competition prize! These included litter pickers, a fabulous ‘Eco School’ sign, a large climbing net, plant pots, Eco badges, Forest School tarpaulin, den building clips, hammers and camouflage netting. The learners are thrilled and can’t wait to start sharing these items across the school next week!

Andy Warhol

Dosbarth Un have been learning about Andy Warhol in their Expressive Arts lessons, and have used a new printing technique to create their own minibeast art inspired by his work. The learners have also been exploring alliteration in their Languages, Literacy, and Communication lessons and have thought of some fantastic phrases to complement their artwork, such as ‘The beautiful big bright butterfly’, ‘The clever calm caterpillar’ and ‘The little lovely ladybird.” Bendigedig Dosbarth Un!

Seed Germination

Dosbarth Un have been learning about seed germination and have carried out an experiment to explore this over the last few weeks. Initially, the learners made predictions about what they thought would happen and why. Throughout the germination process, they made observations and communicated their findings. Additionally, they took responsibility for caring for the seeds by ensuring they received enough water and sunlight.

Bee Talk

Dosbarth Un were very lucky to have a visit from Sharon today who came to teach us all about bees and honey. The learners had prepared their own thoughtful questions before the session and were eager to ask these. During the visit, they discussed the vital role bees play in our world and why it’s so important to look after them. The session was full of fascinating facts and buzzing excitement! A huge thank you to Sharon for generously giving up her time to visit us, and for her kind gifts – each learner received a pot of her delicious honey to try, as well as some seeds to plant and help support our pollinators. Diolch yn fawr, Sharon – your visit was very much appreciated by us all!

PC Viv Visit

Dosbarth Un had a visit from PC Viv today who talked to learners about people who help us and how to stay safe on our holidays. She discussed various community helpers, emphasising the importance of knowing who to turn to in different situations. With the holiday season approaching, PC Viv also discussed essential safety tips to ensure the learners remain safe during this time, such as stranger awareness and safety by water.
