We went on a trip to Dan yr Ogof caves which was great fun! We explored the caves, visited the dinosaurs and went to see the Victorian farm.
This week, we have been learning about the castle in New Radnor a long time ago. We went on a walk up Castle Mound to see where this once was. We then worked in groups to create our own castles using junk and described these, using our mathematical skills to help us.
Yesterday we had a Victorian day where we dressed up in Victorian clothes and had the opportunity to learn about what school life was like in Victorian times. We pretended we were in a Victorian school which was very different to school life now. Even Mrs Lingard had to wear the dunces hat for talking when she shouldn’t have been! We also explored Victorian clothes and toys and made our own cup and ball toy. Lastly, we played some Victorian yard games which were great fun.
This week we have been learning about William Morris, a Victorian artist. We made some of our own artwork inspired by him from natural materials we found on our welly walk.
In club this afternoon we used our team building skills to create dens with multiple areas. All learners enjoyed being out in the fresh air.
This afternoon, learners in Dosbarth Miss Powel and Dosbarth Mrs Curtis participated in the second session with Impelo dance. We developed an understanding of the terms, ‘unison’ and ‘canon’, as well as having lots of fun!
This week Dosbarth Mrs Curtis welcomed Lyn Bugler from Brecon Foodbank to talk to us about the roles of these vital services. We are going to tell you all about our visit at our Harvest assembly.
We will be collecting items for Llandrindod Wells Food Bank over the next couple of weeks. School Council would like to ask for a donation off the shopping list if you are able to. Diolch pawb!
This week in after school club, learners followed ‘Dŵdl Shwmae, Su’mae’ yn Gymraeg (all in Welsh!) and made bird feeders!
Diolch yn fawr i Presteigne Fire Service crew for a brilliant afternoon. Learners had a practical and hands on learning experience with the resources that are used by the fire service.
Today we welcomed Alison & Sarah from the Presteigne Festival Project in to work with our blwyddyn 6 children! We walked into the village with Gladestry year 6’s and found a spot by the water where we used our senses to take notes about our surroundings. As a team we then gathered a word bank ready for the next step of the project.
